At Advantage Education Sydney, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and productive learning environment for all students. This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of every student enrolled in our programs.
All students are required to read, understand and follow this Code of Conduct. Parents and guardians are asked to support these standards at home.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all students at Advantage Education Sydney:
- Feel safe, respected and supported in their learning
- Understand the behavioural expectations of the centre
- Contribute positively to the learning environment for themselves and other students
- Develop habits of responsibility, integrity and respect
2. Respect for Others
All students must treat teachers, staff, fellow students and visitors with courtesy and respect. This includes:
- Listening attentively when a teacher or fellow student is speaking
- Using appropriate and respectful language at all times
- Refraining from any behaviour that is hurtful, bullying, discriminatory or harassing
- Respecting the personal space and belongings of others
- Accepting and following reasonable instructions from staff
3. Classroom Conduct
Students are expected to maintain a focused and cooperative attitude during all class activities:
- Arrive at class ready to learn, with all required materials
- Remain seated and attentive during instruction unless otherwise directed
- Participate actively and constructively in class activities
- Raise questions and seek help politely and at appropriate times
- Avoid disrupting the learning of other students
- Complete assigned work and practice questions to the best of their ability
4. Punctuality and Attendance
Regular attendance and punctuality are important to academic progress. Students are expected to:
- Arrive on time and be ready to begin at the scheduled class start time
- Notify Advantage Education Sydney in advance if they are unable to attend
- Make up missed content through available catch-up sessions where possible
Consistent unexplained absences may affect the student's continued enrolment.
5. Materials and Equipment
Students are responsible for bringing the required materials to each class as specified by their instructor. This typically includes:
- A pencil, pen, ruler and eraser
- A scientific calculator (for relevant year levels)
- Any course workbooks or worksheets distributed by Advantage Education Sydney
Students are responsible for the care and safe storage of all materials provided to them.
6. Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices
To maintain a focused learning environment:
- Mobile phones must be switched off or placed on silent before entering the classroom
- Personal devices must not be used during class time unless expressly authorised by the instructor for an educational purpose
- Headphones and earbuds are not permitted during class
- Gaming devices and personal entertainment equipment are not permitted in the classroom
Advantage Education Sydney is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal devices brought to the centre.
7. Academic Integrity
Advantage Education Sydney values academic honesty. Students must:
- Complete all assessments and practice tasks independently and honestly
- Not copy the work of another student or submit someone else's work as their own
- Not use unauthorised assistance during tests or assessment activities
- Acknowledge and report errors honestly rather than concealing them
Academic dishonesty will be treated seriously and may result in disciplinary action.
8. Care of the Learning Environment
Students are expected to help maintain a clean and orderly environment:
- Keep workspaces tidy and dispose of waste appropriately
- Treat all furniture, equipment and materials with care
- Report any damage or safety concerns to a staff member immediately
- Not consume food or drink in the classroom unless expressly permitted
9. Common Areas and Behaviour Outside the Classroom
The same standards of behaviour that apply in the classroom apply throughout all areas of the Advantage Education Sydney premises, including waiting areas, hallways and external areas. Students who arrive early or are waiting for a parent or guardian must behave respectfully and remain in the designated waiting area.
10. Parent and Guardian Responsibilities
Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting the Code of Conduct. We ask that parents and guardians:
- Discuss and reinforce the expectations in this Code with their child
- Ensure their child arrives on time and is collected promptly at the end of class
- Communicate any concerns about their child's wellbeing or behaviour to Advantage Education Sydney promptly
- Treat all staff and other families with respect in all communications and interactions
11. Consequences of Breaches
Where a student fails to meet the standards set out in this Code of Conduct, Advantage Education Sydney may take the following steps:
- First instance: A verbal reminder or warning from the class instructor
- Repeated instances: A formal discussion with the student and parent or guardian
- Serious or ongoing breaches: Suspension from classes or termination of enrolment
In cases involving bullying, harassment, physical aggression or other serious misconduct, immediate action may be taken without prior warning. Advantage Education Sydney reserves the right to terminate an enrolment where the behaviour of a student or parent/guardian is deemed unacceptable, without refund of fees paid.
12. Zero Tolerance Statement
Advantage Education Sydney has a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, discrimination, harassment and any form of physical aggression. This includes but is not limited to:
- Physical violence or threats of violence toward any person
- Verbal abuse, intimidation or threatening language
- Cyberbullying or online harassment directed at students, staff or the organisation
- Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability or any other protected characteristic
Any incident of this nature will be investigated promptly and may result in immediate suspension or termination of enrolment.
